A popular power spot nestled in history and nature. Beautiful plum blossoms abound in the spring.
Hiraoka Shrine, located in Higashi-Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, is a historically significant shrine revered as the Ichinomiya of Kawachi Province. Its founding dates back to ancient times, with Amenokoyane-no-mikoto as its principal deity. It was known as the clan god of the Nakatomi clan. When the Fujiwara clan, a branch of the Nakatomi clan, established Kasuga Taisha Shrine, they enshrined branches of Amenokoyane-no-mikoto and Himegami, two of the four principal deities from Hiraoka Shrine. This is why it is also known as "Moto-Kasuga" (original Kasuga). The shrine grounds are lush and green, with a stunning plum grove that blooms beautifully in spring. Approximately 5000 tsubo (about 16,500 square meters) of land are filled with around 500 plum trees, creating a breathtaking sight. The surrounding area is designated as the Kongo-Ikoma Quasi-National Park, offering various hiking trails and recreational facilities. Hiraoka Shrine is a power spot where you can refresh your mind and body, surrounded by history and nature. Why not spend some time here, feeling the ancient atmosphere in the tranquil setting? Moreover, Hiraoka Shrine boasts excellent accessibility, being just a short walk from Hiraoka Station on the Kintetsu Nara Line. Its convenient location makes it an ideal stop during your sightseeing in Osaka.
