Okinawa Prefectural General Athletic Park is a large-scale, multi-purpose sports facility located in Okinawa City and Kita-Nakagusuku Village, Okinawa Prefecture. Developed for the 1987 National Sports Festival of Japan (Kaibou Kokutai), it's divided into three themed areas: a sports zone with an athletics stadium and other facilities; a coastal zone featuring a recreational pool and campground; and a forest and water zone offering opportunities for nature observation and learning, including a nature trail and observation deck.
The sports zone boasts the "Tapic Kenso Hiyagon Stadium," a JAAF Class 1 certified athletics stadium, also renowned as the home stadium of FC Ryukyu in the J2 League. It offers a wide array of sports facilities, including soccer and rugby fields, tennis courts, a gymnasium, and swimming pools—catering to both serious athletes and casual recreational users.
The coastal zone includes a recreational pool with waterslides, a lazy river, and a children's pool, fun for all ages. An auto campground allows visitors to enjoy nature by pitching tents.
The forest and water zone provides opportunities to appreciate Okinawa's rich natural environment with a nature observation trail and observation deck. You can also enjoy boating on the forest pond.
Okinawa Prefectural General Athletic Park is perfect not just for sports enthusiasts, but also for families seeking a day of leisure. Explore the vast grounds, enjoy the playgrounds, relax amidst nature—all while taking advantage of the many restaurants and shops available. It's easily accessible, located approximately 5 minutes by car from Kita-Nakagusuku IC on the Okinawa Expressway. Be sure to visit when you're in Okinawa!
