A park with breathtaking views of Yokohama's cityscape and ocean. Features a rose garden, an English rose garden, and offers seasonal beauty.
Harbor View Park is a municipal park located in Yamate-cho, Naka-ku, Yokohama. Situated on a hill overlooking Yokohama Port, the park stretches north to south, covering an area of 5.7 hectares. From here, you can enjoy not only panoramic views of Yokohama Port, but also the city skyline and even Mount Fuji on a clear day. The park's name comes from the postwar hit song, "Minato ga Mieru Oka" (The Hill Where You Can See the Port). This song depicts the scenery of Yokohama and perfectly complements the park's atmosphere. A monument dedicated to the song stands within the park, allowing visitors to reflect on the lyrics while enjoying the view. The park boasts beautiful rose gardens and an English rose garden, displaying stunning flowers throughout the year. Spring showcases cherry blossoms, while autumn offers vibrant autumn foliage, attracting numerous visitors. During the "Yokohama Rose Week" from early May for about a month, the park is filled with the sweet fragrance of roses. The park also features an area known as "Franceyama" (France Hill), encompassing the site of the former French Consulate, a windmill, and the remaining structure of the Parisian "Les Halles Centrales" market designed by Baltard. Franceyama offers a glimpse into the history of Yokohama's opening to foreign trade, making it a fascinating spot for history buffs. Harbor View Park is beloved by many tourists for its stunning views of Yokohama's cityscape and ocean, as well as its historical significance. If you're visiting Yokohama, be sure to make time for a visit.
