Overview

Muro Ryūketsu Shrine, located in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, is a shrine dedicated to the dragon god. Situated on the mid-slope of Mount Muro, it's a serene shrine with a history spanning over 1,000 years. A mystical cave called Ryūketsu (Dragon Cave) is found there, said to house the dragon god deep within. The path to Ryūketsu winds through a beautiful cedar forest. Many visit to feel the power of nature and the dragon god in this tranquil setting. Ryūketsu is a cave deep within Mount Muro, where rain prayers were once performed. Inside the cave lies Ryūketsu, said to be the dragon god's dwelling, shrouded in a mystical atmosphere. Deep within Ryūketsu, "Ryūjin-sui" (Dragon God Water) is said to spring forth, a place where the dragon god is said to have appeared. Drinking this water is believed to offer healing and ward off misfortune. Muro Ryūketsu Shrine is renowned as a power spot where you can feel the dragon god's presence. Visiting Ryūketsu and cleansing yourself with Ryūjin-sui will leave you feeling refreshed, both mentally and physically. Furthermore, Muro Ryūketsu Shrine's location in nature makes it ideal for hiking and strolling. The surrounding area boasts numerous attractions, including Muroji Temple and Muro Dam.
