Takeda Castle Ruins is known as the "Castle in the Sky", famous for its beautiful appearance floating above the clouds.
Overview
Takeda Castle Ruins are located in Asago City, Hyogo Prefecture, atop the 353.7m-high Kojoyama mountain. Designated as a national historical site, its magnificent and beautiful stone walls have earned it the nickname "Castle in the Sky," captivating numerous visitors. It is believed that Takeda Castle was built in the late Muromachi period by the Yamanami clan, the guardian daimyo of Tajima Province. Ownership later changed hands to the Akamatsu and Ota-gaki clans. In the late Sengoku period, it fell to Toyotomi Hideyoshi's forces and was subsequently abandoned.
The charm of Takeda Castle Ruins lies not only in its history but also in its stunning natural beauty. The sea of clouds often seen in the early mornings of autumn and winter is particularly famous. The sight of Takeda Castle Ruins floating above the clouds is like something out of a painting, its ethereal beauty captivating many hearts.
While you can hike to the summit, those less confident in their physical abilities can take a bus from the parking lot at the base. From the summit, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view, taking in the mountains of Tajima and, on a clear day, even the Sea of Japan.
Takeda Castle Ruins is a tourist spot where you can enjoy both history and nature. We highly recommend a visit!
