An experiential museum in a repurposed elementary school, fun for kids and adults!
The Tokyo Toy Museum is an experiential museum in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, uniquely housed in a former elementary school. Its concept centers on letting children (and adults!) interact with approximately 10,000 toys to foster creativity and imagination. The collection boasts a diverse range of toys, spanning generations, including wooden toys, traditional Japanese games, nostalgic items like wooden ball pits and building blocks, classic toys such as spinning tops and kendama, modern designs, and international toys. The building itself is a major attraction. The repurposed elementary school retains its nostalgic charm while offering a fresh and exciting experience for children. The Tokyo Toy Museum aims to go beyond simply displaying toys; it emphasizes the importance of play and nurturing children's rich sensibilities. Through play, children learn and grow. The Tokyo Toy Museum is truly a "playground of wonder," where children cultivate creativity and adults rediscover their inner child. The Tokyo Toy Museum is a memorable place for both children and adults. We highly recommend a family visit!
