Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Shrine, located in Omiya Ward, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, is a leading shrine with a history stretching back over 2000 years, to the mythical age of Japan. As Musashi Ichinomiya (the most important shrine in Musashi Province), it has long been a center of faith for the people. Legend says its history began in the reign of Emperor Sujin, when it was established through a transfer of deities from Izumo Taisha Shrine. The name "Hikawa Shrine" is the origin of over 280 shrines across Saitama, Tokyo, and Kanagawa Prefectures.
