A scenic driving course offering stunning views of the majestic Mount Asama and expansive cabbage fields.
The Tsumagoi Panorama Line is a village road in Tsumagoi Village, Gunma Prefecture, comprised of two routes: South and North. The South Route, approximately 15km long, connects the intersection of Gunma Prefectural Road 235 Oosaza Kita-Karuizawa Line to National Route 144. It passes through vast fields where Tsumagoi's famous highland cabbage is cultivated, offering close-up views of Mount Asama. The North Route, approximately 20km long, connects the intersection of Gunma Prefectural Road 59 Kusatsu Tsumagoi Line to National Route 144. Almost the entire route winds through mountainous areas, completely free of traffic signals. Its scenery evokes the feeling of Hokkaido, making it a popular spot for touring. The North Route is closed during winter (early December to early April). Many tourists visit this drive course to enjoy the abundant nature of Tsumagoi Village. Beautiful scenery unfolds throughout the year: fresh greenery in spring, lush green cabbage fields in summer, and vibrant autumn foliage. Along the way, you'll find various sightseeing spots, including the Mount Asama Lava Tree Molds (a nationally designated Special Natural Monument), the Tsumagoi Shakunage Garden (a village park where thousands of rhododendrons bloom in season), and Shin-Shikazawa Onsen. This area offers diverse recreational opportunities, including driving, cycling, and hiking.
