Kankane-do is a natural cave created by wave erosion. Its mysterious space and the breathtaking scenery of the sea and sky are its charms.
Kankane-do Cave is one of the unique rock formations on the Oga Peninsula, known as a power spot for its mystical appearance. Its formation is the result of waves eroding the rock over a long period. Inside the cave, sunlight creates a fantastical space, with strangely shaped rocks formed by the tides, and the sound of the sea wind and waves echoing. It's said that this cave was once a significant obstacle on the coastal road. Therefore, a method of placing a hook on the outer wall of the cave was devised, leading to its name "Kagi-kake" (hook-hanging), which eventually evolved into "Kankane-do". Kankane-do offers a chance to experience the magnificent nature of the Oga Peninsula. Please visit, but be aware that the cave floor is uneven, so wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and pay close attention to your footing. Absolutely do not climb inside the cave.
