Overview

Ashino Park, located in Kinoki-machi, Goshogawara City, Aomori Prefecture, is a park traversed by the Tsugaru Railway and renowned as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots, with approximately 1,500 cherry trees in full bloom. In spring, various cherry blossoms, including Somei Yoshino and Satozakura, create a breathtaking spectacle of pink hues across the park. The Tsugaru Railway line runs through the park, offering a truly magical view of trains passing through a tunnel of cherry blossoms. The park also features Ashino Lake, a nationally renowned pond, surrounded by a vast expanse of ancient black pines, even more numerous than the cherry trees. Designated as an Aomori Prefectural Natural Park, Ashino Park is a sprawling green space teeming with abundant nature. Enjoy leisurely strolls along the walking paths, across suspension bridges, and floating bridges. Furthermore, Ashino Park is situated in Kinoki-machi, the birthplace of the renowned literary figure Osamu Dazai. It is said that Dazai frequently played in this park during his childhood. Within the park, you'll find a literary monument and a statue dedicated to Osamu Dazai. Nearby in the Kinoki Station area are the Osamu Dazai Memorial Museum "Shayo-kan" and "Osamu Dazai's Evacuation House", offering further insights into the world of Dazai's literature. Ashino Park is brimming with charm, from its stunning cherry blossom scenery and abundant nature to its historical ties with Osamu Dazai. It's a must-see destination.
