A waterfall resembling a white beard! Experience the beautiful cobalt-blue spray up close!
Shirohige no Taki is a 30-meter-high, senryubaku waterfall located at an elevation of 600 meters in the Shirokane Onsen area of Biei-cho, Hokkaido. Its name comes from the white spray that cascades into the Biei River, resembling a white beard. The Shirokane Bridge (also known as the Blue River Bridge), spanning the Biei River in the heart of Shirokane Onsen, offers a stunning panoramic view of the waterfall. From the bridge, the water cascading down the rock face looks like white lace, leading to another name for the falls: "Shiroito no Taki" (White Thread Waterfall). Shirohige no Taki harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding natural landscape, showcasing seasonal beauty. Spring brings fresh greenery, summer basks in abundant sunlight, autumn paints the mountains with vibrant foliage, and winter creates a magical snowy scene. The waterfall is particularly refreshing in summer, making it a popular escape from the heat. Its proximity to Shirokane Onsen makes it an ideal stop during an onsen visit. Nearby attractions include the Tokachi-dake Volcano Disaster Prevention Information Center and the Blue Pond, offering plenty to explore. Shirohige no Taki is a beloved spot where visitors can experience the mystery of nature. Be sure to visit!
