INFO
While the mountain trails are well-maintained, some sections are steep and challenging. Please come prepared with adequate gear and physical stamina. Weather conditions can change rapidly, so check the forecast beforehand and dress appropriately. Water sources and restrooms are limited along the trail, so be sure to bring your own supplies. There is a possibility of encountering bears, so it's recommended to carry a bell or other noise-making device as a precaution.

Overview
The Omine Okugake-michi is an ancient trail stretching approximately 80km, linking Yoshino-cho in Nara Prefecture and Kumano City in Wakayama Prefecture. This truly is a path of ascetic training, traversing rugged mountain terrain at elevations ranging from 1000 to 1900 meters. Along the way, 75 unique training sites called 'nabi' offer glimpses into the rich history of the region. The Omine Okugake-michi has served as a sacred site for Shugendo practitioners for centuries. It's a place to connect with nature and history, and to refresh your mind and body.
Several circular routes are available on the Omine Okugake-michi, catering to various fitness levels and time constraints, from beginner-friendly to advanced trails. Lodgings and mountain huts are also available along the route, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely trek with overnight stays.
The Omine Okugake-michi offers a chance to connect with nature and history, and to reflect on yourself. We encourage you to visit and experience it for yourself.
