Vast flower fields bursting with seasonal blooms!
Shikisai no Oka is a popular tourist spot in Biei-cho, Hokkaido, famous for its expansive flower fields. Located on a gently sloping hill along the Panorama Road, this 7-hectare site (three times the size of Tokyo Dome) is a vibrant tapestry of color. Depending on the season, you'll find around 30 different types of flowers blooming, including lavender, lupines, cosmos, and sunflowers, making it Biei's representative flower garden. The charm of Shikisai no Oka lies in its sheer scale and the stunning seasonal displays. From tulips and poppies in spring, to lavender and lupines in summer, and cosmos and sunflowers in autumn, there's something beautiful to see year-round. The breathtaking expanse of lavender in summer is particularly captivating and draws many visitors. The park also offers various attractions, including the "Shikisai Norokko-go" tractor bus tour of the flower fields, rental buggies for a scenic tour of the birch-lined fields, and four-person carts that allow you to explore at your own pace. Furthermore, Shikisai no Oka features a farmers' market selling fresh produce and processed goods, a souvenir shop offering unique Biei and Hokkaido items, and a restaurant serving delicious meals. Shikisai no Oka is a truly relaxing space where you can connect with nature and enjoy the beauty of the flowers. If you're visiting Hokkaido, be sure to add it to your itinerary.
