The Iwakura Gojo River cherry blossom trees line the Gojo River in Iwakura City, Aichi Prefecture, stretching approximately 7.6km. Around 1,300 cherry trees burst into bloom, heralding the arrival of spring. The area is especially lively during the "Iwakura Cherry Blossom Festival," featuring nighttime cherry blossom illuminations and events such as the "Nobori Arai" (washing of nobori banners). The beautiful cherry blossom archways make it a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing.
The "Iwakura Cherry Blossom Festival" is held annually from late March to early April. During the festival, visitors can enjoy illuminated nighttime cherry blossoms, demonstrations of "Nobori Arai" (washing away the paste from carp streamer banners in the river), and mikoshi (portable shrine) processions. As the cherry blossoms fall, the river surface is covered with petals, creating a breathtaking spectacle as they gently drift downstream.
