Ipponmatsu Park, located in Kawai-machi, Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is known as a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the Sea of Japan. The park boasts a lush pine grove, including an ancient, iconic pine tree, creating a serene and calming atmosphere. In spring, the park bursts into vibrant color with a profusion of cherry blossoms, captivating visitors with its beauty. During cherry blossom season, the park teems with tourists enjoying the hanami (cherry blossom viewing). Ipponmatsu Park is also known for its collection of literary monuments. Among the most famous are the monuments dedicated to the haiku poets Kyoshi Takahama and Yōtarō Sasatani. Kyoshi Takahama visited Noto in 1949 and composed a haiku here, which is commemorated by a stone monument in the park. Yōtarō Sasatani, a haiku poet from Wajima who studied under Kyoshi Takahama, also has a monument in the park. Ipponmatsu Park is a tranquil haven where nature and literature intertwine.
