Kodama Senbonzakura is a renowned cherry blossom spot in Honjō City, Saitama Prefecture, featuring approximately 1,100 cherry trees in full bloom along the Koyamagawa River. The peak season is from late March to early April, transforming the river into a breathtaking pink spectacle. The Kodama Senbonzakura Festival is held in early April, offering various events, stage performances, and food stalls. After the cherry blossoms fall, you can enjoy the vibrant azaleas (Yama-tsutsuji) from early to late May and the stunning spider lilies (higanbana) from late September to early October, showcasing the beauty of the area throughout the year.
Kodama Senbonzakura was developed as part of a three-year greening project from 1956 to 1958. In 1990, it was selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots by the Japan Cherry Blossom Society. The local community, including a preservation society, maintains the area, including the neighboring Miyagi Senbonzakura Forest.
