The atelier and residence of world-renowned sculptor Masayuki Nagare, boasting breathtaking views of the Seto Inland Sea.
Overview
NAGARE STUDIO is a museum showcasing the atelier and residence where sculptor Masayuki Nagare lived and worked until his later years. Nestled in the stunning landscape of Anji-cho, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, overlooking the sea and sky of the Seto Inland Sea, the studio is a space embodying Nagare's philosophy and aesthetics—a work of art in itself.
Masayuki Nagare had a diverse background, including experiences as a swordsmith, bookbinder, and even a Zero fighter pilot. He was a creative force who established unique techniques and styles in numerous fields beyond sculpture, such as gardening, pottery, and furniture design. At NAGARE STUDIO, you can experience not only his artworks but also his life's work, including his garden, architecture, and furniture.
Particularly noteworthy is the studio's architecture, designed and built by Nagare himself using discarded bricks. This unique space, harmoniously integrated with nature, truly embodies Nagare's artistic vision.
The studio is surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Seto Inland Sea, offering a breathtaking panorama of sculptural works and nature seamlessly intertwined.
NAGARE STUDIO is a place to not only experience the art of Masayuki Nagare but also to fully enjoy the natural beauty and culture of the Seto Inland Sea.
