Kan Yasuda Sculpture Museum Arte Piazza Bibai is an art and cultural exchange facility located in Bibai City, Hokkaido. Centered around the site of the former Bibai City Sakae Elementary School, it features works by Kan Yasuda, a sculptor from Bibai. Over 70,000 square meters of land houses more than 40 sculptures, ranging from massive works weighing over 10 tons to smaller pieces displayed in the former school building. Yasuda, having studied sculpture in Italy, established this museum with the hope of reviving the vibrancy of his hometown, Bibai, once a bustling coal mining town. Arte Piazza Bibai is a true "art plaza," a harmonious blend of Kan Yasuda's sculptures and nature. Visitors can stroll through the expansive grounds, taking in the beautiful scenery created by the interplay of art and nature. The former school building, repurposed as a gallery and art hall, showcases not only Yasuda's works but also hosts various exhibitions and events.
