A shrine dedicated to Tsukiyomi-no-mikoto, the brother god of Amaterasu Omikami, and a Betsu-sha (separate shrine) of Ise Grand Shrine's Naiku (Inner Shrine). Experience the sacred atmosphere in its tranquil grounds.
Tsukiyomi-miya Shrine is one of the Betsu-sha (separate shrines) of Ise Grand Shrine's Naiku (Inner Shrine), dedicated to Tsukiyomi-no-mikoto, the brother god of Amaterasu Omikami. The serene atmosphere of the shrine grounds offers a truly refreshing experience for both body and mind. Also enshrined together are Izanagi-no-mikoto and Izanami-no-mikoto, the parents of Tsukiyomi-no-mikoto, creating a magnificent sight of four shrine buildings. The Tsukiyomi-miya Shrine's main hall, facing south, is built in the Shinmei-zukuri style with thatched roof, inner-cut chigi (roof ornaments), and an even number (6) of katsuogi (ridge ornaments), similar to the Naiku. While the old shrine grounds for遷宮 (Shinkyō, the relocation of shrine buildings) are usually located side-by-side east-west, those of Tsukiyomi-miya are north-south and not adjacent. The shrine building is slightly larger than the other three, and the torii gate is also larger. Tsukiyomi-no-mikoto is considered the deity who governs the phases of the moon and has been watching over people's lives since ancient times. Therefore, it is believed that Tsukiyomi-miya offers blessings for peace of mind and body, household safety, warding off evil, marital harmony, prosperity of descendants, academic success, and more. Why not visit Tsukiyomi-miya, immerse yourself in the sacred atmosphere, and feel the powerful divine blessings of Tsukiyomi-no-mikoto?
