Kasama Castle was a mountain castle built during the Kamakura period by the Kasama clan. Subsequently, it passed through the hands of various powers, including the Utsunomiya clan,蒲生氏郷 (Gamae Ujisato), and served as the clan headquarters of the Kasama Domain, lasting until the Meiji Restoration. Built on the summit of Mount Sabai, the castle was a fortress protected by steep mountains and deep moats, meticulously designed to prevent enemy intrusion. Even today, the remains of the stone walls and moats remain, hinting at the castle's former grandeur. From the former keep site, you can enjoy a magnificent view overlooking Kasama City. Kasama Castle Ruins is a recommended spot not only for history buffs but also for those who want to enjoy nature.
When visiting Kasama Castle Ruins, be sure to explore the surrounding sightseeing spots.
