Koumyou-ji Temple

Overview

Koumyou-ji Temple is a Tendai Buddhist temple located in Uji City, Kyoto. Legend says it was founded during the Heian period. Its mountain name is Kasagiyama, and its principal image is Amitabha Buddha. Situated at the confluence of the Uji and Kizu Rivers, the temple has thrived as an important transportation hub since ancient times.
