The Yatsuzawa Power Plant Facility No. 1 Aqueduct, completed in 1912 during the Meiji era, is registered as a Nationally Designated Important Cultural Property. Located near Saruhashi Bridge, it's a highly valuable spot, functioning as an aqueduct while also being a historical structure. The bridge was built to channel water from the Yatsuzawa Power Plant to a power plant just before Uenohara Station, utilizing the Katsura River. Its construction employed remarkably advanced techniques for its time, and its engineering prowess is still highly regarded today. The bridge features an arch-shaped structure with stone-masonry abutments. It spans approximately 70 meters and is about 20 meters high. From the bridge, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful Katsura River. The surrounding area boasts abundant nature, perfect for a leisurely stroll. There are many other sightseeing spots nearby, such as Saruhashi Bridge and Ōbōsatōge Pass, making it ideal for a combined trip.
