A breathtaking spring spectacle of approximately 10,000 plum blossoms!
Tsukigase Plum Grove, located in Nara City, Nara Prefecture, is a historic plum grove featuring approximately 10,000 plum trees in full bloom. Its history stretches back to the Edo period, when plums cultivated here were used as "Umeboshi" (dried pickled plums) for medicinal and dyeing purposes. In the Meiji period, the demand for Umeboshi decreased with the advent of synthetic dyes, threatening the grove's existence. However, thanks to the efforts of local residents, it was revitalized. Designated a Place of Scenic Beauty in 1922, it's now a popular hanami (cherry blossom viewing, but here, plum blossom viewing) spot heralding the arrival of spring. The highlight of Tsukigase Plum Grove is the overwhelming sight of approximately 10,000 plum blossoms in full bloom. The vibrant display of red and white blossoms is truly breathtaking. The scenery along the Sai River, which flows through the center of the grove, is particularly stunning. The contrast between the flowing water and the blossoms is truly captivating. Well-maintained walking paths allow for leisurely strolls while enjoying the plum blossoms. Rest areas and shops are conveniently located along the paths for those needing a break. Immerse yourself in the healing atmosphere of Tsukigase Plum Grove and experience the breath of spring.
