A museum boasting stunning views of Kagoshima Bay and Sakurajima, showcasing approximately 1000 art pieces.
Overview
The Nagashima Museum of Art, located in Take, Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, showcases an art collection painstakingly gathered over many years by its founder, Kosuke Nagashima.
Perched on a 110m high elevation, the museum commands breathtaking panoramic views of Sakurajima, rising majestically from Kagoshima Bay, and the Kagoshima cityscape. It's nestled within a naturally beautiful setting, surrounded by subtropical trees.
The museum houses approximately 1000 precious art pieces, including paintings and sculptures by local artists such as Seiki Kuroda, as well as works by international artists such as Rodin and Chagall, Pre-Columbian artifacts, and Satsuma ware.
Mr. Nagashima's collection of Seiki Kuroda's works is particularly noteworthy, considered among the top in Japan. His personally acquired Rodin and Chagall pieces from overseas are equally precious.
Well-maintained nature trails surround the museum, perfect for a relaxing stroll. The magnificent views of Kagoshima Bay and Sakurajima from the museum enhance the art viewing experience.
The Nagashima Museum of Art offers a harmonious blend of nature and art, providing a tranquil and enriching experience. We highly recommend a visit.
