Located in Kitashiobara Village, Fukushima Prefecture, Grandeco Snow Resort has played a significant role in the history of Japanese ski resorts. It was originally developed as part of the Aizu Fresh Resort concept, becoming the first project designated under Japan's Comprehensive Resort Area Development Law. Now rebranded as "EN RESORT Grandeco" and operated by The COURT Co., Ltd., its appeal continues to grow.
Its greatest draw is the exceptional snow quality, considered among Tohoku's finest, thanks to its high elevation ranging from 1,010m to 1,590m. Especially after snowfall, the entire slope is blanketed in fluffy powder snow, promising a sublime gliding experience that feels like floating. The longest course, stretching an impressive 4,500m, allows even beginners to leisurely descend while enjoying magnificent panoramic views from the summit, offering a sense of exhilaration.
For advanced skiers, popular options include the "Fall Line" with a maximum gradient of 33 degrees, permanent mogul slopes, un-groomed "Freeride" areas, and tree run courses weaving through beautiful primeval beech forests. The tree run is designed to be accessible even for intermediate beginners, allowing them to experience the extraordinary sensation of skiing through nature.
Furthermore, hotel guests enjoy exclusive benefits such as priority gondola boarding, free parking, and activities like bonfire & marshmallow experiences, enriching their stay. The adjacent "Buna-no-Yu" hot spring facility is another welcome feature, perfect for relaxing and warming up after a day on the snowy slopes. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers a full range of winter activities including a kids' park for snow play and snowmobile rafting, ensuring families can enjoy themselves all day long. Its extended spring skiing season also makes it a favorite among many skiers and snowboarders.
