Located at an altitude of approximately 1,100m, the Noroshi-dai is a breathtaking viewpoint, a 25-minute walk from Gouenyama Ski Resort, offering panoramic views of the north face of Mount Daisen and the lush green ski slopes.
A 15-minute walk along the mountain trail from the Gouenyama Ski Resort slopes leads to the Noroshi-dai on Mount Gouenyama. This Noroshi-dai is known as a spectacular viewpoint offering stunning, up-close views of the majestic north face of Mount Daisen. Below, the ski resort's verdant slopes spread out, creating a picturesque, almost Nordic pastoral scene. The view is especially rewarding if you ascend the mountain path without looking back, only turning around at the very end for a breathtaking panorama. At the summit sits a Jizo statue dedicated to Gouen Sojo, the restorer of Daisen-ji Temple. From here, you can see far beyond the forest at the foot of the mountain, all the way to the distant Japan Sea. Slightly off the main Daisen pilgrimage route, it sees fewer visitors outside the ski season, but it's actually one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Daisen area. The name "Noroshi-dai" (signal fire platform) originates from the fact that signal fires were once lit here to warn of enemy attacks. Even today, the sunset view, painting the distant mountains in vibrant hues, captivates many visitors. The Noroshi-dai is located at an altitude of approximately 1,100m, a 25-minute walk from the Gouenyama Ski Resort slopes. While the mountain trail is well-maintained, there are some steep sections and rocky areas, so sturdy shoes are recommended. Be aware that fog can occur depending on the weather conditions. The majestic view of Mount Daisen's north face from the Noroshi-dai is truly awe-inspiring. Come and see it for yourself!
