Overview
Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium is a beloved attraction for many tourists, offering an up-close look at penguin life. It houses 9 of the 18 penguin species found worldwide, providing diverse perspectives on their behavior and ecology. Inside, you'll find highlights such as a circular tank teeming with thousands of Japanese anchovies and one of Japan's largest sub-Antarctic penguin pools. A touch pool allows visitors to interact with starfish, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and other intertidal creatures – perfect for kids! Outside, you can observe penguins in their natural ocean environment and explore a nature experience area with rice paddies and streams, making it a fun and educational experience for all ages. Take the Nagasaki City Bus bound for "Aba (Aba) ・ Kasuga Depot" from the Nagasaki Station South Exit bus stop and get off at the "Penguin Aquarium Mae" stop. When heading back towards Nagasaki city, board the bus at the "Himii Koen Mae" bus stop.
By car: From the Tosu area, it's about a 5-minute drive from the Nagasaki Expressway Nagasaki Bozuka IC. Note that you cannot exit at Nagasaki Bozuka IC from the Nagasaki city direction. From the Nagasaki city direction, it's about a 20-minute drive via National Route 34.
There are two parking lots: Parking Lot 1 and Parking Lot 2. A nature experience zone is located along the walkway from Parking Lot 1 to the aquarium. Parking Lot 2 is closer to the aquarium. Show route
