Overview

Migairi Falls, located in Oichi-cho, Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, is a stunning waterfall selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls. As its name suggests, its magnificent scenery is unforgettable. Boasting one of the largest drops in Kyushu at 100 meters, the roaring waterfall is truly awe-inspiring. Its powerful presence overwhelms visitors, allowing them to feel the energy of nature. The charm of Migairi Falls extends beyond its majestic appearance. Approximately 40 species and 40,000 hydrangea plants are planted in the surrounding area. The "Migairi Falls Hydrangea Festival" is held in June. The sight of colorful hydrangeas blooming wildly around the waterfall and its downstream area is breathtaking. Various shades of blue, purple, and pink hydrangeas create a magical atmosphere combined with the roaring sound of the waterfall. The Ikisagawa Dam is located just upstream of the waterfall. While the dam has narrowed the waterfall's width compared to its pre-dam state, its majestic beauty continues to captivate visitors. The area also features stone Buddhas such as Fudo Myoo, Juichimen Kannon, and Jizo, adding a mystical ambiance. These stone Buddhas have long been objects of faith for the local people, offering a glimpse into the history and culture of Migairi Falls. Migairi Falls is a memorable tourist spot where nature and culture harmonize. With its magnificent waterfall, colorful hydrangeas, and mystical stone Buddhas, Migairi Falls is a must-see destination when visiting Saga Prefecture.
