Overview

Tamura Jinja Shrine, located in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, has long been revered by the local people as the chief shrine of Sanuki Province. Its founding is said to date back to 709 AD (Wado 2), giving it a history spanning over 1300 years. The shrine's main deity is Sarutahiko-o-kami, along with many other gods. The expansive grounds are lush and green, offering a tranquil and naturally-surrounded space. With fewer visitors, it's a peaceful place for contemplation. Known as a power spot, Tamura Jinja is particularly famous for its dragon statue, believed to bring good fortune and ward off evil, attracting many worshippers. Other highlights include statues of the Seven Gods of Fortune, the twelve zodiac animals, and an ema (votive picture) hall. Tamura Jinja provides a calming atmosphere enveloped in history and nature.
