INFO
Get ready for an adventure! Many exciting events and experiential programs, such as animal feeding, may require advance reservations or an additional fee. During summer and Golden Week, the park truly comes alive with extended evening hours and spectacular night marine shows, which are subject to separate charges. Given the park's vast size, various convenient transportation options are available, including the 'Kenya-go' train, bicycles, and carts (some of which may require an additional fee), ensuring you can explore every corner with ease!
Located in Shirahama-cho, Wakayama Prefecture, Adventure World is a theme park that has cherished "the harmonious coexistence of humans, animals, and nature" since its opening in 1978 as "Nanki Shirahama World Safari." Combining a zoo, an aquarium, and an amusement park, it's packed with so many attractions that a single day isn't enough to experience them all. The "Marine Live" show, in particular, features a spectacular performance centered around music, with trainers and dolphins/whales putting on an incredible display that naturally draws cheers from the audience. During summer vacation and Golden Week, the special paid night marine live show "LOVES" offers an even more romantic and breathtaking experience with added illumination and fireworks.
In the vast "Safari World," a diverse array of animals, from carnivores like lions and cheetahs to herbivores such as giraffes and rhinos, live freely. Besides touring on the Kenya Train, visitors can also enjoy walking safaris, cycling, cart tours, and even pre-booked feeding experiences and behind-the-scenes tours, offering various options to get closer to the animals. As noted in reviews, the close proximity to the animals provides a truly moving experience, allowing visitors to feel their power and charm firsthand.
At the "Fureai Hiroba" (Petting Square), animals like maras and capybaras roam freely, allowing visitors to feed and interact with them. You can also observe penguins and Oriental small-clawed otters up close, enjoying their unique expressions to the fullest. Although orcas and sea otters were once kept here, they are no longer part of the park. Nevertheless, even greater efforts have been made to enhance the living environments and exhibition methods for the current animals. The theme park also boasts a wide range of attractions, with the amusement park zone featuring rides like a Ferris wheel and roller coasters, enjoyable for both children and adults. Adventure World, where animal encounters, thrilling shows, and playful attractions converge, continues to offer visitors a place of special wonder and discovery.
