Takashima Castle stands proudly in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture. This hilltop castle, built on 258m-high Takashima Mountain, offers commanding views of the Zenkoji-dai plain. Also known as "Kaitzu Castle," its history stretches back to 1583, its construction date. Takashima Castle served as a crucial stronghold in Shinano Province, witnessing numerous battles throughout its history. Today, remnants of the castle keep, main enclosure (honmaru), second enclosure (ninomaru), and third enclosure (sannomaru) remain, offering a glimpse into the past. From the castle keep, you can enjoy a 360-degree vista of the beautiful Zenkoji-dai plain. A historical museum on the grounds provides further insight into the castle's rich history and culture.
