Overview

Takada Castle Ruins Park is located in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, on the site of Takada Castle, once the proud castle of the Echigo Takada domain. Built in 1604 by Matsudaira Tadateru, it flourished as the domain's castle until the Meiji Restoration, after which it was abandoned and its grounds transformed into a park. The park preserves historical sites such as the Takada Castle Ruins Museum and the Takada Castle Triple Turret, offering a glimpse into the past. The museum houses exhibits on Takada Castle's history and culture, while the Triple Turret, a symbolic structure of the castle, is designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
