Overview

Katori Jingu, located in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, has been revered as the "Kanto So-chinju" (the guardian shrine of the Kanto region) since ancient times. Its history stretches back approximately 2000 years. The majestic shrine buildings and expansive grounds are filled with a sacred atmosphere, offering a peaceful respite from the urban clamor. Famous as a power spot, it attracts numerous worshippers. The grounds are home to various shrine buildings dedicated to different deities, each with its own history and significance. A lush forest provides a serene environment for strolling, and the seasonal flowers add to the beauty—cherry blossoms in spring, autumn leaves in fall, and stunning displays throughout the year. Katori Jingu embodies the principles of "Shinbutsu-shugo," the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism. Therefore, Buddhist elements are also present within the shrine grounds. For instance, Fudo Myoo (Acala) is enshrined in the inner sanctuary. Katori Jingu is not merely a tourist spot; it's a place of faith, steeped in history and culture. Experience its sacred atmosphere for yourself.
