A real ancient castle relocated from Scotland! Feel like you've stepped into Europe.

Overview

Lockhart Castle is a three-story (plus a basement) country house made of approximately 3,200 tons of sandstone, originally constructed in Scotland in 1829. It was later purchased by Japanese actor Masahiko Tsugawa and relocated to Takayama Village, Gunma Prefecture in 1993. Lockhart Castle is a beloved theme park recreating a medieval European townscape. Inside the castle, you'll find a museum displaying Santas from around the world, teddy bears, jewelry, and more, along with restaurants, shops, a stone academy, and a Lover's Fountain. The grounds also feature St. Lawrence Church, used as a wedding venue, and beautiful gardens perfect for strolling. Popular as a filming location for dramas and movies, Lockhart Castle offers stunning seasonal scenery. Enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn foliage. Nighttime illuminations transform the castle into a magical, fantastical place. Lockhart Castle is a sightseeing spot where you can immerse yourself in history and culture for a full day of enjoyment.
