Overview

Lake Haruna is a caldera lake located at an elevation of 1,100 meters on Mount Haruna in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. Mount Haruna is one of Gunma Prefecture's representative mountains and has been known as a sacred mountain since ancient times. Lake Haruna, with a circumference of approximately 14 kilometers, stretches out at its foot. Formed by the volcanic activity of Mount Haruna, the lake boasts a long history dating back approximately 20,000 years. Its calm surface acts like a mirror, reflecting the surrounding mountains and sky in breathtaking beauty. A well-maintained promenade runs along the lakeshore, perfect for leisurely strolls. You can also enjoy various recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and canoeing. Many tourist attractions are located around Lake Haruna, including Haruna Shrine, the Haruna Mountain Ropeway, and Haruna Highland.
